Finding My Inner Creative Soul to Express Myself In Photographs

I believe that deep down, every kid is an artist. No matter what we do or who we are.
F for Formidable
This photograph is my 7th installment of Rosie Hardy Challenge, Rosie is one of my favorite conceptual photographers on this planet. The idea is to post a photo every week with a new letter of the alphabet in every photo. I really love the idea because I am looking for a way to dramatically improve my photography skills and creativity this year because I believe every one of us has a unique side, every one of us is special and nobody sees the world the way I do, the way you do. We have our own emotional lens, now is an excellent time to consider doing this kind of challenge and let see how I can go far for this addiction.

This stands for F for Formidable. I’m a Filipino and we are known as hardworking, resourceful, and passionate people towards our work. Many of us work overtime, even underpaid, some work with multiple jobs, some have additional small businesses to earn extra money, and many are away from their families working overseas and sacrifice the time with them to support their loved ones. Many of us were striving harder, yet it seemed not to gain progress. Why?

One of the reasons is, that we tend to be extra helpful and take full responsibility for our families and dependents at home, especially if you are the breadwinner or become the sole provider in the family. It’s a Filipino cultural value that I consider FORMIDABLE, FORMIDABLE BURDEN, and ENEMY of progress for the ones who are providing financial support because if you give money instantly to your dependents, you can’t save for yourself for your future and it delays your gratification as it is pulling you down from success.

I know if you’re a Filipino, many of you can relate to what I want to convey in this image. I believe that if someone needs money, they have to earn it. Maybe the best solution is to always remember this proverb, “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”, which is hard to do particularly if you live here in the Philippines or your dependents are unable to work, you really cannot endure their suffering. So, may your burdens be light.

The hardest part of doing this kind of photography is coming up with ideas, writing captions and execution can be difficult.

Here are my A-E photographs of #rosiehardychallenge.

Happy 60th Birthday to My Mother!

Dearest Nanay,

I will never find anyone who will love me as unconditionally as you have. You know me in many ways that no one else ever will. One who can see what I am going through. You’re the one who will do anything to see me happy. One who always prays for my happiness, keeping me safe from harm or sickness. You’re are the one who instills confidence and faith in me and gave unquestioning support to whatever I do. You’re unconditional love and care that I always wear every single day even you are not always beside me is irreplaceable.

I am so blessed to have you in my life. Thank you for always, always being at my side and having my back. No one is in my corner quite the way you are. I precious you, mother, and love you more than life itself.

I hope for your good health and a strong mind. There’ll never be a day in my life when I won’t need you. I’m here for you too. Please remember that.

Happy, Happy Birthday Nanay. Love you!

All my love,

Diego

Nanay...

I could never start to fondle the memories I have for my “Nanay”, or the feelings and thoughts I share to other people about my childhood. I am very much grateful for the wonderful mother that I have! My mother was so present for me everyday during my childhood life. She made food, played with us, took us to the school, taught us all day long, exposed me to study hard and never give up in all kinds of hardships – I love it!… I could go on and on….

Most of all, my “nanay” showed us to have faith in God to fight for impecuniousness in life. Her encouragement has been an inspiration to me… She was really spectacular, never giving up ... During my school days, I was one of the best at getting around obstacles on my studying. Until now I want to be the best at confronting the most difficult problems of my life with all my strength.

I really do hope that I’m doing a good job as my mother and my father want me to do. Looking back, I can tell how much treasured those days we were all young even though some pieces of a good things in life were not given to us. But the most important thing is, she enjoys being my nanay now.

Thank you for being there for me, for being my biggest fan through every single stage of my life. Thank you for knowing when I was wrong and whopping me when I was being a brat. I may not have liked it then, but looking back, I know I’m better off. Thank you for holding me on my ups and downs and promising me that tomorrow would be a better day. You’ve been my rock through breakups, life decisions, and new chapters. You’ve carried me through when I was convinced I couldn’t go on. Thank you for (sneakily) becoming my very best friend, being my phone call always, and being my most caring confidant.  I am so grateful. Most importantly, thank you for showing me right from wrong and for teaching me the value of respect not only for others, but for myself as well.

Thank you! Happy Mothers Days Nanay! lavyah….

WHERE IS THE SAFEST SEAT ON THE BUS?

Early today unfortunate accident happened when AB Liner bus crashed to a lorry truck at Barangay San Vicente, Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Some passengers were killed and hurt. I am always sad whenever I hear news of a bus accident because I always used to ride a bus as a mean of my transportation to go around. And maybe some of us are never aware where to choose to sit that could literally make the difference between life and death whenever shit happens. So, where is the safest seat on a bus?

According to safety experts, the safest seat is in the MIDDLE, in an aisle seat on the side opposite of oncoming traffic, yes it’s in the middle seat and I often prefer those seats  to sit whenever I’m boarding on a bus. Being in the middle of the bus means you’re less likely to be injured by either a high-speed rear end collision or a head-on impact, also you are further away from the windows and gives you some protection from flying glass.

Here’s a note to remember:

HEAD ON COLLISION:
Passengers in the front of the bus are vulnerable in a head-on collision. Yet, the drivers’ seat is sometimes believed to be the safest seat on the bus, due to the drivers’ instinct to maneuver in a manner that keeps him or her alive in treacherous conditions. People who frequently sit at the front of the bus may have a tendency to feel certain camaraderie with the driver, who is in charge of his/her safety and fate.

SIDE COLLISION:
Passengers in the rear of the bus are vulnerable in a rear-end collision. However, this is a rare type of collision and often happens at a low speed.

REAR-END-COLLISION:
Passengers on the side adjacent to oncoming traffic are more vulnerable to a collision with an oncoming vehicle. In less-developed countries like the Philippines, where oncoming vehicles are often informally built and haphazard, with objects perturbing from all, the side adjacent to oncoming traffic is particularly vulnerable to something smashing through the window. If your bus is speared from the side, such as if it runs a red light and is hit perpendicularly, and then either side could be equally vulnerable.

I believe in this assessment but I’m not claiming that these tips are reliable as shit things happen unexpectedly so be very extra careful when you’re traveling.

I also do not wear short when traveling, I preferred jeans as clothing for my extra protection or added shield for my body.

When I Recall The Whisper...

There was a time – ah, this is so true
When upon me girl knocking my window
Whispering Hi! With indulgent smile
Making me wonder upon blue sky

Ah, tender mate, wonderful girl
There I discovered beyond the waving swirl
Friendship flowed, from hours of the river’s stream
So, meets with a gently murmuring sea

When I recall the whisper -----
You’re as tender as a budding flower
Rosy – checked with enchanting smile
You’re so cute with your squinty eyes,
So revealed your cool, modest way

And in the air of a sylph; your portion, your entire self
Diffused a mysterious charm…

RUNNING, PHOTOGRAPHY, BLOGGING & VLOGGING help me DEVELOP a LOVE for my LIFE.

Over the course of my life as I grew up and matured (lols), I’ve contained a number of run-of-the-mill interests like ball games, video games, art, just to name a few. But none of them have changed or defined my life or brought me as much satisfaction as blogging/vlogging, running and photography. In almost too many ways to count, these 3 passions have changed me and the way I live my life aside from my work.
Any of these 3 has become a passion that I can put in good word to others. I started blogging as a personal tool to journal some parts of my life and express what’s in my mind and my emotions that I cannot voice out directly to other people. Before I started vlogging, running and photography are my stress relievers. Running makes me feel healthy and gives me mental fortitude while photography becomes a creative outlet for me to see the beauty in every captured memory that I can have forever.  But somewhere along the line, it becomes less about me writing the story in blog when I discovered vlogging in which I can tell a story in video format. I begin to love it because I’ve always loved to share things, and making videos has become an extension for my love of writings.
And while there are many articles written about these hobbies, for me,  if you combine running, writing blog, filming vlogs and photography or even doing only one of this passions, it’ll surely DEVELOP A LOVE FOR your LIFE with its all beauty, good health, joy, love, connection, adventures, thoughts, emotions, and awesomeness that makes up life. So, let’s wrap it up here, how could you not try even one or two or all of these and experience it now?? And maybe can change your life and become you happier.
But, anyway, if you’re any of these: blogger, vlogger, runner, photographer or not, hopefully you can relate to at least a little of it.
